regret
becomes a guest that never leaves
waking side by side
each day we trudge in unison
entwined among my veins
and chirality
it tugs me this way and that
keeping me careful
and safe
and wishing
I could unwind its bittered pith
from my skin, peel
it away from each limb
and fairly float
from the lightness of that
jettison:
a forward singularity
a cloud among the trees
